The committee was informed that Rs 10 billion will be allocated to widen the Prime Minister's Health Insurance Scheme in the next fiscal year. The committee was briefed about the land acquisition and site development of Pakistan Institute of Development Economics, Islamabad; however, the committee recommended that the land issues of Pakistan Institute of Development Economics can be forwarded to resolve them by Capital Development Authority (CDA) under the Prime Minister's directions.
The committee expressed serious reservations over the absence of the secretary M/o National Health Services, Regulations and Co-ordination and directed that he should justify his absence before the committee members otherwise proceedings of breach of privilege should be taken against him.
The committee was informed that nine Special Economic Zones under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) were agreed upon in the sixth JCC meeting in December 2016. MNAs Chaudhry Jaffar Iqbal, Junaid Akbar, Shazia Sohail Mir, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Shaheen Shafiq, Shamas-un-Nisa, Qaiser Jamal, Sheikh Salahuddin, and Sher Akber Khan attended the meeting. The officials of Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform, M/o Water & Power and Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) also attended the meeting.
